Frances Orchid Leech, Teacher
Frances Orchid Leech, a longtime Marin County resident, died Sept. 10 of cancer. She was 86.
Mrs. Leech came to Mill Valley over 50 years ago from her native Canada with her husband, the late Hugh Leech. Soon after, she attended the teachers' college of San Francisco State College (now university) where she earned the equivalent of a master's degree. She held several teaching positions in San Francisco, ending her career at Everett Junior High School.

In retirement, she and her husband moved to Angwin, where they lived from 1973 until her husband's death in 1990.

In an effort to help the elderly with their income taxes, she took a course from H&R Block and traveled to nursing homes within a 40-mile radius of Angwin.
In 1990, Mrs. Leech came back to Marin County, residing in Novato, and continued with her income tax help.
She is survived by her children, Robin Ernest Leech of Canada; Thomas Shepherd Leech of Novato, Mary Kathleen Huffaker of El Cajon and William Hugh Leech of Newport Beach; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.7
